FROM THE DIRECTOR

There is a deep calling, an urgent quest in the soul of every artist seeking ingenuity and wholeness... that yearning to discover the beginnings, it is from which identity emerges, formed and established.

Armenia, for me, is where I found it all comes to life, transfigured in People’s faces, music, language, and architecture, all weaved as an imperishable tapestry, in divine harmony…

Armenia, for me, is a muse, eternally inspires…

she’s my distant beloved, her story is my story.

For different reasons, my beloved was attacked, invaded, her people were killed, and uprooted from their lands, over the centuries – and till now - hands of the enemy are trying hard to take away her beauty, but as a phoenix, she resurrects, soaring, flying victorious, back to her highlands…

During filming of “The Forgotten Homeland” in 2021, Armenians and Artsakhis opened their hearts and home doors for me, sharing their precious stories, fears and dreams about yesterday and tomorrow.

Today, we’re here, watching, understanding, and hopefully willing to act according to the communicated truths told by them, to help them, and to be their voice to the world.

“The Forgotten Homeland” should not stay forgotten…
